A missing master key is rarely just a missing key. It can mean unanswered questions about who can enter the plant room, storeroom, garage or common areas. Effective body corporate key control gives managers a practical answer: know who has access, give it only when required, and remove it when the job is done.

For strata managers and committees, this is an operational issue as much as a security one. Keys move between contractors, cleaners, caretakers, committee members, letting agents and residents.
